Sorrento Valley is an economically stable area, and well-known for its technology, specifically wireless. Qualcomm and Motorola are both local employers, and many of the residents of Sorrento Valley work for one of the two companies.

Sorrento Valley parents are reassured by the fact that their children attend some of the best school districts in the state. High school students are part of the San Dieguito Union High School District, which consistently ranks high in standardized testing and other measures of success. Graduates often are accepted into top colleges and universities.
