Rancho San Diego real estate is composed of new and restored homes, with many of them taking advantage of the natural light of the area with big picture windows, high ceilings and neutral coats of paint. Residents who commute to work to downtown San Diego face about a half hour commute every morning and evening, although the expansion of the San Diego Trolley system is making public transportation a more popular option. Many who live here opt to not go into the city at all and instead do business at one of East County's other major business centers, namely El Cajon.
