Suisun City Real Estate

Suisun City was established in the 1850s during the California Gold Rush as a primary trading route between the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas and the San Francisco Bay Area. The city was a bustling economic center with the introduction of the transcontinental railroad in 1869 and prospered until the construction of Interstate 80 in the 1960s. Since then, Suisun has undergone a massive redevelopment and prides itself on its Old Town Waterfront and Main Street Historic District, converting the city into a prosperous waterfront community still retaining Suisun's prized hometown charm.

Suisun City embodies a cross-section of the endlessly attractive California lifestyle. The city's 28,000 residents have easy access to Northern California's two major urban centers - the San Francisco Bay Area and the Sacramento Capitol region - as well as the Stockton metro area. Suisun City's Old Town Waterfront and Historic Main Street Shopping District is a prosperous and exciting shopping community, blending unique shops and restaurants with an inviting and relaxing waterfront atmosphere. Also in Suisun City, the Sunset Shopping Center-located across the street from Heritage Park-houses large chain stores, local eateries and shops, as well as various fast food restaurants and the Suisun City post office. For shoppers that like to venture out a little futher, the Westfield Shoppingtown in Fairfield is the largest indoor shopping mall in Solano County, hosting over 1,000,000 square feet of retail space.

Suisun City prides itself on a small town atmosphere without sacrificing any big city conveniences-such as fun and games during any month of the year. The new Harbor Plaza boasts a raised stage area and sloped lawn, making the perfect setting for summer concerts and plays. Also in the summer is Suisun City's famous Fourth of July Celebration, which has become Solano County's largest Independence Day celebration and fireworks show.

The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District is an award-winning elementary, secondary, and adult school district serving residents living in Fairfield, Suisun, and unincorporated areas of Solano and Napa Counties. 28 schools including five high schools, five middle schools, one adult school, and 17 elementary schools. In April 2006, three elementary schools in the district had been named to a list of California's Distinguished Schools.

The Suisun City Recreation and Community Services department offers a number of activities for residents, including programs served through the John A. Nelson Community Center, the Senior Center along with the Suisun City Marina. At the marina, residents can enjoy The Suisun Channel and Marsh boasts outstanding sturgeon and striped bass fishing; excellent sightseeing and bird-watching, and fabulous waters for pleasure boating, cruising, water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking or any other water related activity.
