Pleasanton Real Estate

As stated on the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce website, Pleasanton is a town that has seen a lot of change: “A community that began as a simple home to Ohlone Indians, Pleasanton has passed through seasons as an adobe homestead for Spanish soldiers, an agricultural center, a small bedroom community, and finally, what it is today - a thriving city with excellent schools, a strong economic base and well-planned neighborhoods.” The town prides itself on its sense of community on its numerous parks and recreation facilities and programs. The community along with its sister communities of Livermore, San Ramon and Dublin are home to many large Bay Area employers.

Pleasanton is located in Alameda County near the 580/680 exchange. It is across the San Francisco Bay and Dumbarton Bridge from Silicon Valley, in the East Bay, east of Hayward. One of the major attractions of Pleasanton is the Stoneridge Mall, off Foothill Road. In addition, the city has a number of strip malls with clothing shops, grocery stores, restaurants, and movie theaters. The town is also known for its beautiful municipal parks, specifically Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park, which offers citizens a chance to take advantage of the area's great weather that makes outdoor activities possible throughout the year.

Pleasanton is a place that is popular with families, but it is also a great place for singles, couples, and senior citizens. The school system makes buying a home in Pleasanton even more attractive. The two high schools in Pleasanton, Amador Valley and Foothill, have a low student-teacher ratio of 1:23. According to Yahoo!, an average of 98% of seniors graduate from these two schools, and an average of 94% of those graduates go on to pursue higher education opportunities.

Pleasanton real estate is becoming more and more popular. The average home sales price in Pleasanton rose 4.8% in the year period between February 2005 and 2006. In 2005 the average price for a single family home or condominium was $824,687 and in 2006 that price edged up to $864,353.
