Daly City Real Estate

Daly City is the most populous city in San Mateo County, and is the first suburb south of San Francisco. It is known as the "Gateway to the Peninsula." Historically, Daly City had a reputation for being plain and mostly composed of middle-class suburbia; however, the city has a number of charms and beautiful bay or pacific views from most streets. Especially since the recent technology boom, Daly City has become a much more cosmopolitan and attractive place than its reputation leads people to believe.

Buying a home in Daly City will not only put you near one of the greatest cities in the country, but you can be part of a perpetually growing and changing town with a number of shops, restaurants, business, and access to outdoor activities (especially great surfing and wind surfing). It is also near great get-a-way spots like Napa and Sonoma County, Yosemite, and great skiing.

In February 2006, the average home sales price was $652,599 up 6.7% from the previous year. Overall, real estate in Daly City is well maintained and yards are manicured, homes are kept-up, and neighborhoods are friendly and very safe. Daly City offers a wide variety of recreational activities. Daly City's scenic seven-mile coast is accessible to the public. San Bruno Mountain, with 2,063 acres of diverse park land, offers spectacular views of the entire Bay Area and the Pacific Ocean. Lake Merced Golf and Country Club is located within Daly City and the Olympic Club-Lakeside and the San Francisco Golf Club are adjacent to Daly City's northern boundary.

The town is easily accessed by both highway 101 and 280, and there is a BART station that will take you into San Francisco or over to the East Bay. Bus service is provided throughout the City and is served by The San Francisco Municipal Railway (MUNI) and the San Mateo County Transit District (samTrans). Daly City real estate is justifiably popular, and buying a home here would be a good investment for many prospective homeowners.
