Cupertino Real Estate

Large technology companies such as Apple, Hewlett-Packard, and Symantec call Cupertino home as do many of the companies' employees and other high tech and life science companies that flourish in Silicon Valley. Buying a home in Cupertino will put you in the company of 52,000 other people in this small, South Bay city that is situated about 20 minutes from San Jose Airport. Cupertino is also within driving distance or day-trip distance of the Pacific Ocean, Tahoe, and the many state and county parks throughout the area.

Cupertino real estate is a good investment not only because of the city's natural attractions, but also because of its excellent schools. The Cupertino Union School District is made up of 20 elementary schools and 5 middle schools. It serves over 16,500 students in a richly diverse community representing 46 different languages in a 26-square mile area that includes the city of Cupertino and portions of San Jose, Sunnyvale, Saratoga, Santa Clara, and Los Altos. The 2006 results of the California API (Academic Performance Index) ranked Faria Elementary School in Cupertino with a perfect 1,000 score, placing it at the top of the list for the fourth year in a row. Two other elementary schools in the district, Dilworth Elementary School and Blue Hills Elementary School, were recognized as scoring in the top ten ranked schools in California.

There are many events and festivals held within the city of Cupertino for residents. One of the most prominent events is the Annual Cherry Blossom Festival honoring Cupertino's sister city of Toyokawa, Japan, is held at Memorial Park in April. The event offers a wide selection of Japanese food and beverages, entertainment, demonstrations, cultural exhibits, art, crafts and clothing for sale. The festival benefits the nonprofit Cupertino Sister City Committee, which promotes friendship and student exchange programs between the two cities.

Along with one of the friendliest climates in the United States, Cupertino also boasts one of the most diverse and engaged communities in Northern California. For outdoor recreation Cupertino offers more than 150 acres of parkland, including Blackberry Farm with its 9-hole golf course - one of the most affordable urban Golf Courses around. For indoor recreation, the Cupertino Sports Center and Cupertino Senior Center offer a range of activities, while the Cupertino library presents events and activities for both kids and adults.

Each September, many families in the City of Cupertino (and neighboring county areas) choose to pass along usable items to their neighbors, rather than sending them to the dump. The city encourages neighbors to work together to hold block sales and multifamily sales. The city advertises the sale, including a master Garage Sale List and Map.

Like many South Bay cities, Cupertino real estate was initially purchase for weekend homes by San Francisco's elite. However, it has quickly become one of the most vibrant and thriving cities in the area. In February 2007 the average sales price for a home or condo was to $1,102,837. This sustained sales price has shown that purchasing a home in Cupertino is a good investment for prospective homeowners.
